Paranoia: a mental condition characterized by delusions of persecution, unwarranted jealousy, or exaggerated self-importance, typically elaborated into an organized system. someone who have paranoia or the feeling of having paranoia is called ‘paranoid’.
Schizoid: denoting or having a personality type characterized by emotional aloofness and solitary habits. marked by dissociation, passivity, withdrawal, inability to form warm social relationships, and indifference to praise or criticism.
Schizotypal: characterized by a need for social isolation, anxiety in social situations, odd behavior and thinking, and often unconventional beliefs. often feel extreme discomfort with maintaining close relationships with people, so they avoid forming them.
Cluster B: dramatic
Antisocial: harm or lack consideration for the well-being of others. many people label behavior which is deemed contrary to prevailing norms for social conduct as anti-social behavior.
Borderline: symptoms usually include intense fears of abandonment, intense anger, and irritability, the reason for which others have difficulty understanding. often engage in idealization and devaluation of others, alternating between high positive regard and great disappointment. self-harm, suicidal behavior, and substance abuse are common.
Histrionic: have a high need for attention, make loud and inappropriate appearances, exaggerate their behaviors and emotions, and crave stimulation. may exhibit sexually provocative behavior, express strong emotions with an impressionistic style, and can be easily influenced by others.
Narcissistic: excessively preoccupied with personal adequacy, power, prestige and vanity, mentally unable to see the destructive damage they are causing to themselves and others.
Cluster C: anxious
Avoidant: display a pervasive pattern of social inhibition, feelings of inadequacy, extreme sensitivity to negative evaluation, and avoidance of social interaction. tend to describe themselves as ill at ease, anxious, lonely, and generally feel unwanted and isolated from others.
Dependent: a long-standing need for the person to be taken care of and a fear of being abandoned or separated from important individuals in his or her life. leads people to engage in dependent and submissive behaviors that are designed to elicit care-giving behaviors in others. may be seen as being “clingy” or “clinging on” to others, because the person fears they can’t live their lives without the help of others.
Obsessive-Compulsive: a general pattern of concern with orderliness, perfectionism, excessive attention to details, mental and interpersonal control, and a need for control over one’s environment, at the expense of flexibility, openness, and efficiency. workaholism and miserliness are also seen often in those with this personality disorder.
