A dozen apologies were resting on his tongue in the span of that short second, ready to quickly make amends. The people in markets like this were usually kind, but every once in a while he’d stumble upon a grumpy elder who had no time for dwindling children who were only here for ’ play ’. He didn’t understand the terms used by those much older than him, unsure why they harbored such an angry energy. But he was always uncomfortable under the glaring light of a scolding. Being yelled at, even if it was by harmless elders, made him anxious and undoubtedly frightened.
But Kou was lucky in his uncoordinated tumble, as arms connected with an acquaintance rather than a rude stranger. With sudden relief, the vessel responded with a wide and friendly smile of his own. ”Seikin-kun! Hi, ah sorry again about that.” Warm circles of gold were finally able to flicker over the other’s figure. ”Wow. That’s a really beautiful yukata.” He wouldn’t allow himself to think much of his own outfit, as the boy had on a tight pair of forcefully ripped jeans ( stained with dirt here and there ) and a loose t-shirt ( which was old and a bit too short for his growing torso ). He cleared his throat to look at the stand again. ”Are you here for the daifuku? I can treat you to some, if you’d like…!”
He gave a playful smile to the other. In the position they were in, they seem to resemble a pair of siblings and that amused the taller blonde. Summer festivals always put him in the best of moods, even if he have to bear some of the elders complaining that their festivals are now corrupted with consumerism and is slowly losing their meaning, Seikin disagreed as they still have this festival near the shrine, and also the fact most of them are still holding on to their traditions.
Perhaps things were much different in the elders’ time. Then again, all Seikin cared on festivals like this are the sexy guys in yukata and food, especially food, and not to mention bumping into cute friends, like this dude here.
» 「 It’s alright. Better than you fallingdown completely, right? And thanks for the compliment! It’s a size too big though. 」 «
Seikin laughed. No point having a beautiful one if it doesn’t fit him snugly. But if it manages to catch one’s eye, then he suppose he’ll let it slide. He can afford to show some skin, whether it’s simply because the summer night is warm, or for the sake of intimacy, it doesn’t matter much.
Besides, it’s much easier to clean up a yukata compared to a suit, Seikin pondered silently to himself as he pulled up the loose sleeves threatening to fall off his shoulders. He wondered what the other’s is here for, was it for the food too? He knows not everyone wears traditional clothes for every single festival since there can be so many in a year sometimes, so he isn’t gonna ask, unlike the elders in some cases.
Maybe he should take the other to buy some clothes in the near future. And count him in on the daifuku! Even if he isn’t the mood for having tons of sweet food, it’s still food and Seikin didn’t eat the whole day just for this festival.
» 「 Sure thing! I’ll treat you some takoyaki after that. And some okonomiyaki too! 」 «
